A dual clutch means that the car uses a dual clutch transmission, where the two clutches operate alternately, providing uninterrupted power output and allowing the car to shift gears quickly. The advantages of a dual clutch transmission are high transmission efficiency, fast gear changes, low manufacturing costs, low space requirements and low fuel consumption. The function of the dual clutch is to ensure a smooth start, to reduce the shock load on the gears when shifting gears and to avoid overloading the transmission.
Advantages of the dual clutch.
1. The vehicle is equipped with two clutches, which control the odd and even gears of the vehicle. When the vehicle is in use, one gear is engaged and the corresponding next gear is automatically prepared, allowing the vehicle owner to switch gears more quickly when refuelling. The dual clutch transmission and turbocharged engine are the golden combination in the vehicle configuration, and vehicles equipped with a dual clutch transmission are also very powerful and much better than other models.
2. Fuel efficiency. By eliminating torque interruptions, the dual clutch puts the engine's power into an uninterrupted state of use, thus increasing energy utilisation and reducing fuel consumption.
3. Low cost, as the dual clutch is a combination of two normal clutches and is not particularly complex, it is more expensive to manufacture than other automatic clutches.
The most common fault in vehicles with dual clutch gearboxes is the high temperature of the clutch plates, especially when driving in congested roads, which can cause high clutch plate temperatures and damage the clutch over time. This type of gearbox shifts quickly and the driver will feel a noticeable stuttering sensation when shifting at high vehicle speeds.
